NAAC Masters is a year-round program designed for those 19 years and older who would like to use swimming and the guidance of knowledgeable coaches to enhance fitness. The program is open to the public.
The 2013 Summer session will begin June 10, 2013 and run through August 30, 2013. Practices will be on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings from 7:00 – 8:00 pm. Due to high demand for pool space at the Academy over the summer, practice locations are subject to change, but most will be in the South Severn outdoor pool, which is adjacent to the Academy's Gate 8.
Registration will start May 23, 2013. Registration is an electronic process using a link on the club's home page. The fee for the Summer session is $200 and paid by credit card. (The fee is prorated for new members joining late.) All who register must be members of U.S. Masters Swimming before their first practice. You can take care of this through the U.S. Masters registration website at http://registration.usms.org. (Our club’s official abbreviation is NAAC.)
A special pass is required to drive onto the Academy grounds. Please sign up for a pass by clicking on the appropriate link at the bottom of the club’s home page. If you take care of this promptly, your pass will be ready when you arrive for the first practice.
The coach will be Steph Grajeda, a former varsity swimmer at the University of Maryland and our Masters coach for three years.
The Fall session will run from September 10, 2013 through January 11, 2014. The practice days will be Monday and Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. Registration will open on August 23, 2013.
Though the primary purpose of the NAAC Masters program is stroke improvement and fitness, there is a competitive component. The coaches will keep the swimmers informed of meets in the local area and facilitate the entry process for those interested.
If you have any questions, please contact Tom Slear, NAAC’s head swim coach, via e-mail.
